TOOME WINS RECORD BREAKING COOLBET OPEN

The fourth edition of Coolbet Open has come to an end and it was indeed a very successful one.

The Main Event exceeded all expectations and set a new Coolbet Open record with a staggering 686 entries and 498 unique players! This generated a prize pool of €332,710 where €71.400 would go to the winner.

24 players qualified for the final day, including Coolbet Open May champion Mathias Siljander, the Finnish bracelet winner Juha Helppi and Malta Poker Festival winner Tomas Sujeta of Lithuania.

None of them really came into contention for the title and eventually four players – one from each of Coolbet’s main markets – were battling it out for the title: Jari Lahtinen from Finland, Johan Karlsson from Sweden, Klaus Witte from Norway and Ott Kaarli Toome from Estonia.

Toome grabbed the chip lead when taking out Lahtinen in fourth place with A-J versus Q-Q and shortly afterwards he busted Karlsson with Q-Q against A-10. The Estonian had a 2:1 chip advantage against Klaus Witte heads-up and it ended pretty quickly when the Norwegian went all-in with A-9 and Toome called with K-J.

A jack came on the turn and Ott Kaarli Toome could celebrate together with his friends who had met up to support him.

The win was by far Ott Kaarli Toome’s biggest in his career. He is mostly focusing on cash games but his display in Coolbet Open showed that he is a very good tournament player too.
